West Metro Fire-Rescue District to Host Community Open House July 21
Posted on 07/09/2026
The West Metro Fire-Rescue District (WMFRD) will host its annual community open house on Tuesday, July 21, from 5 to 8 p.m. at WMFRD Headquarters, 4251 Xylon Ave N.

The free event offers an opportunity to learn about the services provided by the district while meeting firefighters and emergency responders. Attendees can explore fire apparatus, watch live fire and rescue demonstrations, visit food trucks, participate in family-friendly activities and learn about fire safety.

"Emergency response is about more than fire trucks and equipment, it’s about people. Our annual open house gives us the opportunity to connect with the residents we serve every day outside of emergency calls," said WMFRD Fire Chief Josh Kunde. "It’s a chance to meet our neighbors, answer questions, showcase our equipment and help residents better understand the work we do each day to keep West Metro safe."

The West Metro Fire-Rescue District provides fire suppression, emergency medical response, technical rescue, fire prevention and public education services to the cities of New Hope and Crystal. The annual open house is designed to strengthen connections with the community while providing an opportunity to learn about emergency preparedness and fire safety.
