Joint Community Police Partnership

JCPP LogoThe Joint Community Police Partnership (JCPP) is a collaborative effort between Hennepin County and partner cities, including New Hope. The program's mission is to enhance communications and understanding between law enforcement and the multicultural residents of the partner cities. Each city tailors programming to its specific community.

By building trust and communication between the police and community members, we will ultimately improve the safety and livability of our communities.

We are working together to build safer communities.

WHAT ARE THE GOALS OF JCPP?

To build and enhance police-community relations, JCPP focuses on three main goals:

  • To improve community members' knowledge and understanding of police procedures and laws.
  • To improve officers' knowledge and understanding of the diverse cultural communities residing in their cities.
  • To provide opportunities for positive interaction and two-way communication between police officers and community members.

MULTICULTURAL ADVISORY COMMITTEE

The Multicultural Advisory Committee (MAC) is a core component of the JCPP. The MAC is an engaged group of volunteers who advise the New Hope Police Department on better serving, communicating with and understanding the many cultures residing in, working in or visiting the New Hope community.

The MAC meets monthly with police personnel to discuss important topics in their communities, build mutual trust and open two-way communication. MAC members represent New Hope's diverse cultural, professional and educational backgrounds. Members are asked to tap into their various skill sets and networks as part of their work in MAC; engage with neighbors, coworkers, students, clients or anyone else to learn how MAC can progress police-community relations.

If you are interested in being involved in events, outreach activities, problem solving and building partnerships between the multicultural communities and the police, please apply today.

We are recruiting members who:

  • Live, work or are involved in a community organization within the City of New Hope.
  • Embrace the diversity of the New Hope community.
  • Are willing and eager to participate in challenging and meaningful conversations.
  • Can act as a bridge between the community and the police department.
  • Will work collaboratively to enhance relationships between police and the community, specifically with immigrants and people of color in New Hope.
