In 2008, just like the ABBA song, I asked the voters of New Hope to "Take a Chance on Me" as I ran for mayor for the first time. They took that chance, and I have had the honor of serving as New Hope's mayor for nearly 16 years. I feel fantastic about the work we've done together during my time as your mayor. I have great confidence in the direction the City of New Hope is heading and have decided that I will not seek another term as your mayor in 2024.

I want to tell you about the fabulous opportunity you've given me. I have had the honor of serving with extremely cooperative city councils, excellent city managers, and city staff that is beyond compare. Alongside this magical group, we have made a stunning impact on the City of New Hope through incredible growth in the Citys taxable market value, new housing options within the city, and many retail, commercial, and industrial redevelopments that brought new job opportunities.

I am so proud of what we've accomplished together. We could not have done it all without the help, support, and partnership of our board members, commissioners, and, most importantly, the New Hope community. Together, we've faced unprecedented challenges and reshaped the City of New Hope making it a great place to live, work, and play for generations to come.

I will continue serving the City of New Hope through the end of 2024 when I pass the gavel to the next elected mayor of this great community. Thank you so much for taking that chance on me. It's been an honor and a privilege to be your mayor and to give back to the community I have made home for 47 years. I look forward to being your neighbor for many more years.

Sincerely,

Kathi Hemken
Mayor
