Highway 169 & 42nd Avenue Bridge Replacement

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) plans to replace the bridge and interchange at Trunk Highway 169 and 42nd Avenue North.  This project shares a border with the City of Plymouth, and will coincide with Hennepin County's mill and overlay of 42nd Avenue, and the city's signal light, trail, and ADA improvements. This project is scheduled to begin in 2023.

Project Location

MnDOT plans to reconfigure the interchange from a cloverleaf configuration to a folded diamond. The existing cloverleaf was first built in the early 1970's. A folded diamond will eliminate the existing ramps to the south of 42nd Avenue, and add two stop lights where the new on/off ramps meet 42nd Avenue. The folded diamond configuration is designed to improve safety for both drivers and pedestrians on 42nd Avenue.
