Command Staff
Chief Tim Fournier began his public sector career in 1989 as a Paramedic for the Hennepin County Medical Center. In 1991, he became a Police Officer with the Richfield (MN) Police Department before returning to his hometown New Hope Police Department in 1993. Over the years he rose through the ranks and was appointed Chief of Police in 2011. Chief Fournier has an extensive experience and training background including 14 years as a SWAT Operator and over 30 years in martial arts. He has lectured on corporate safety and security and provided training to schools districts throughout the state on active shooters.
Chief Fournier is a former president of the Hennepin County Chiefs of Police Association and current board member and instructor for the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association. He holds a Master of Science in Management and is a graduate of the F.B.I. National Academy.
Captain Scott Crocker was hired as a police officer, for the city of New Hope, in 1985. He was promoted to Sergeant in 1999, and to Captain in 2011. During this time, he participated and then supervised the Use of Force Unit, The Field Training Officer Unit, Tactical Training for Patrol, and the New Hope Police Explorers. Captain Crocker was a member of the West Metro S.W.A.T. Team for over 20 years, retiring off the team as the Assistant Commander.
Captain Crocker currently manages the Patrol Division, which includes; 6 Patrol Sergeants, 14 Patrol Officers, 2 K-9 Officers, a Traffic Officer, a Utility Officer/School Liaison Officer, the Animal Control Officer, the Reserve Unit, and 4 Community Service Officers. He also represents the New Hope Police Department on several committees including; New Hope Safety committee, the Duk Duk Daze planning committee, the North Suburban Emergency Management Group, the Hennepin County Radio Users Advisory Group, the Hennepin County Radio Standard Operating Procedures Group, and the Hennepin Technical College Law Enforcement Advisory Group.
Captain Crocker graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement and Corrections. He is also a graduate of the Northwestern University School of Staff and Command.

Captain Scott Slawson started with the New Hope Police Department in 1994 as a police officer. He has worked in specialized assignments including Field Training Officer, Firearms Instructor, Bike Patrol and Commercial Vehicle Enforcement. After being promoted to Sergeant in 1999, he supervised specialty units as well as patrol shifts.
Captain Slawson was promoted to Captain in 2011 and currently leads the Investigations Division, which includes 3 Investigators, a Crime Analyst, 2 School Resource Officers, a Drug Task Force Officer, and the Crime Prevention/DARE Officer. Scott coordinates case assignments to investigators, and coordinates with federal, state and local agencies on investigations. He has served as the administrator of the Northwest Metro Drug Task Force/Violent Crime Enforcement Team, is a liaison to the MN Fusion Center, and oversees security of the department’s criminal justice data provided by the FBI and the BCA.
Captain Slawson is certified in Emergency Management and is a graduate of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association’s Command Institute.
