Lane and ramp closures will begin May 11 in the area of Rockford Road (42nd Avenue) and Highway 169 as the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MNDoT) makes safety improvements to the Rockford Road bridge.

MNDoT plans to rebuild the Rockford Road bridge over Highway 169 in 2024. Project developers are working closely with the cities of New Hope and Plymouth, as well as Hennepin County officials to develop a bridge plan which meets the long-term needs of the area.

Crews will make improvements to the bridge that will make it safer until replacement. MNDoT will also restrict trucks carrying loads heavier than 40 tons (oversized) from using the bridge. Standard-sized semis, garbage trucks, food trucks, buses and recreational vehicles will be able to continue using the bridge.

While the bridge safety work is completed, motorists will see single-lane closures in both directions of Rockford Road and closures of the south loops from Highway 169 south to eastbound Rockford Road and from eastbound Rockford Road to Highway 169 north from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily, May 11 through May 25.
