New Hope City Council has approved plans and specifications and authorized the advertisement of bids for improvements to Corner and Little Acre parks.

The plans, approved at the March 22 New Hope City Council meeting, include playground site work at Corner Park and basketball court replacement at Little Acre Park.

The playground equipment at Corner Park is currently the oldest in the New Hope parks system, last replaced in 1997. The approved plan includes replacing the playground container, pedestrian curb, sidewalk, and a concrete bench pad. City staff expects the playground equipment plan to be presented to New Hope City Council for approval in April. The estimated total project cost is $183,625.91.

The Little Acre Park basketball court is more than 30 years old and was last resurfaced in 2015. In addition to replacing the court surface, the plan includes upgrading the basketball hoops and footings. The estimated total project cost for the basketball court improvements is approximately $70,200.

New Hope City Council could award the project contract as soon as late April, with construction at both parks beginning this spring.
