New Hope Sergeant, Officers Take Oath

New Hope Police Department’s Sergeant Miguel Robles and Officers Isaiah Gorman and Matthias Waldemar took the oath of office Monday night at the New Hope City Council Meeting.

The ceremony took place at the beginning of the meeting and, in addition to New Hope City Council and city staff, was attended by family, friends and members of the law enforcement community.

New Hope Council Member John Elder spoke to the number of officers from the New Hope Department and surrounding agencies in attendance. “What you don’t see on TV is the myriad of officers that are lined up along the back and out in the hallway here to support these three,” said Elder. “That is a testament to the cohesive law enforcement that is happening in this area, the respect that these agencies have for New Hope and the camaraderie amongst the New Hope department itself.”

Sgt. Robles began serving with the New Hope Police Department in 2007, holding many roles within the department, including Field Training Officer, Drug Task Force Officer, and K-9 officer before his promotion to sergeant in July 2022.

Officers Gorman and Waldemar joined the department as community service officers (CSOs). Officer Gorman began as a CSO 2021 and Officer Waldemar in 2022.

New Hope Police Chief Tim Hoyt commented on the officers. “I can personally tell you that our police department is very lucky to have them serving our residents.”
