The Meadow Lake Watershed Association is hosting a series of free native planting workshops sponsored by the City of New Hope.

The final workshop of the series, “What is a Rain Garden?” is Saturday, Sept. 24, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. The workshop will begin at New Hope City Hall, 4401 Xylon Ave N, followed by attendees visiting a rain garden in New Hope.

Register by Sept. 23 by emailing Jodi Taitt at [email protected].

Native plants are essential to our ecosystem and provide wildlife habitat, stabilize soil and shorelines, and filter pollutants from runoff. The workshop series is led by Carolyn Dindorf, limnologist and co-author of “Lakescaping for Wildlife and Water Quality,” and guides attendees to develop a deeper understanding of native plant applications in rain gardens from design to maintenance.
