As the calendar moves into August, construction continues on multiple fronts at New Hope’s Civic Center area.

The city’s new pool remains on schedule to open in summer of 2020. Some of the latest construction includes:

The electrical and plumbing in the bathhouse was roughed-in and the interior block was installed last week. In the 50-meter pool, the southwest floor of the shallow area and the northeast floor of the deep end of the pool were poured, and the walls in the shallow area were started. This week, roof trusses will begin going up, the roof framing will take shape and the burnished block is being installed.

Other recent Civic Center Park construction includes excavation and pavilion footings for the new outdoor theater and picnic pavilion, and grading is now underway for the park’s new skatepark.

On the New Hope City Hall side of the area, the city is fully moved in and operational at the new facility. However, much construction remains outside of the new city hall.

Over the next couple weeks, the sidewalks will continue developing, including electrical work and placement of the piping and insulation for the heated sidewalks.

The bollard bases in front of the main city hall entrance are poured, and soon the irrigation sleeves, curb and gutters will be installed.

This work will culminate with the completion of the parking lot in front of the new city hall, however, the date for that is still to be determined. The city continues to appreciate the patience of residents and businesses as access to the building is through the police station side.
