The New Hope City Council is accepting applications to fill vacancies on the Planning Commission, Human Rights Commission, and West Metro Fire-Rescue District Board of Directors.

The Planning Commission makes recommendations to the City Council regarding matters affecting zoning, platting, commercial/industrial expansions and redevelopment, and public improvements. Planning commission meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month. Commission members serve three-year terms.

The Human Rights Commission advises the City Council on the planning and operation of city programs or services with respect to civil and human rights issues and recommends policies or actions as needed to ensure equal opportunity in the community. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month. Adult members serve two-year terms, student members serve terms of one academic year.

The West Metro Fire Board oversees the operations and finances of the West Metro Fire-Rescue District, as stipulated by a joint powers agreement between the cities of New Hope and Crystal, to ensure that the district delivers effective and economical fire suppression services to each city. The Fire Board has seven members, and New Hope is seeking applications for the city’s “citizen representative” position on the board. Board members serve two-year terms. The board meets quarterly on the third Wednesday of the month.

For additional information or an application, call the city clerk at 763.531.5117. The application deadline is November 2. Appointments will be made by the City Council.
