Court Improvements

outdoor basketball courtEach year, some capital improvement dollars are earmarked for maintaining playable court surfaces. There is no set schedule for crack filling or resurfacing tennis and basketball courts throughout the city, but instead staff annually reviews the court surfaces at all of the parks and prioritizes maintenance based upon need and available budget.

In 2023, the following court work is expected:

  • Hidden Valley Park basketball court, 8800 32nd Ave N, to be resurfaced.
  • Hidden Valley Park tennis courts, 8800 32nd Ave N, to be power-washed.
  • Liberty Park basketball court, 9015 60th Ave N, to be fully reconstructed with new basketball hoops installed. The court was built almost 30 years ago and has had varying levels of repair over the years. Soils beneath the court surface and age of the asphalt have led to repeated cracking and peeling of the court surface and shifting of the hoops. This project is being done as part of the 2023 Street Infrastructure project and is scheduled to take place during the summer of 2023.
  • Meadow Lake School pickleball courts, 8525 62nd Ave N, to be converted from three pickleball courts to eight courts. The courts were build approximately 25 years ago as three tennis courts. Several years ago, pickleball markings were added to the courts and clips were added to the nets so they could be temporarily adjusted to pickleball height. In 2021, the nets were permanently adjusted to pickleball height. This project is being done as part of the 2023 Street Infrastructure project and is scheduled to take place sometime this summer.
