Outdoor Theatre map

New Hope built an outdoor theatre in Civic Center Park, just west of New Hope City Hall, in 1986. The theatre, which is handicap accessible, has bleacher seating for about 450. Parking is available in the City Hall parking lot.

Movies in the Park

It's family movie fun at the Outdoor Theatre! Movies will be shown on a jumbo screen. Concessions will be available for purchase.

"Sing" ~ Friday, June 22

A koala impresario stages a singing competition in order to save his theater, and the contest attracts the attention of such musically inclined animals as harried pig mom, a teenage gorilla, a shy elephant and a punk porcupine. Rated PG. Sponsored by New Hope Women of Today. Movie starts approximately 9:15 p.m.

"Moana" ~ Friday, July 13

An adventurous teenager is inspired to leave the safety and security of her island as she takes a daring journey to save her people. Rated PG. Sponsored by West Metro Fire Auxiliary. Movie starts approximately 9:15 p.m.

"D2: The Mighty Ducks" ~ Friday, August 24

This sequel finds coach Gordon Bombay and the kids' hockey team traveling to L.A. to play in the Junior Goodwill Games. Disruption ensues when Iceland, the team favored to win the title, appears on the scene. Rated PG. Sponsored by Armstrong Cooper Youth Hockey Association. Movie starts approximately 8:30 p.m.

Outdoor Theatre Production ~ "The Wizard of Oz"

The Off Broadway Musical Theatre (OBMT) has collaborated with the city of New Hope to present a major musical with full costumes, orchestras, sets and lighting every summer since 1978. This summer OBMT will present "The Wizard of Oz", the classic tale of a young farm girl who is transported to the land of Oz. In her quest to meet the Wizard she ultimately discovers that "There's no place like home". American Sign Language date will be Friday, August 3 (rain make-up August 4).

Dates: Thursdays-Saturdays, July 19-August 4

Time: 8 p.m.

A free will donation of $4 per person is suggested to help cover the cost of the production. Food shelf donations for PRISM will also be accepted. Note: Unattended chairs or blankets will be removed from the bleacher area.

Volunteers Needed

Auditions were completed in April, but volunteers age 16 and older are needed to help bring "The Wizard of Oz" to New Hope this summer. No experience necessary. For more information call 763-592-6805.

Summer Theatre Programs for Kids

Theatre classes are held each summer for kids ages 5 to 12. Youth will develop as actors by learning script, doing exercises and preparing for an end of the class performance on Friday at 7pm. Instructor is Linda Bruning who is assisted by Cyan Pampuch.
