Homeowners in Minnesota who file for the homestead tax credit save a significant amount in property taxes. If you have previously filed for the homestead tax credit and have not moved, sold, or rented your residence, you remain on record as "homestead status". Only new owner/occupants need to apply. To file for homestead, you must bring a copy of your deed and certificate of real estate value to City Hall. You must own and occupy the residence before filing.
